Here is my list of simple gift sewing projects.

1. Lined Drawstring Bag

Drawstring bags can be used for any and everything: as a lingerie bag, travel pouch, a gift bag, etc. I sewed my sister a set of three and it warms my heart to see that she constantly uses them for traveling. To sew this project you can read my blog post or download the pattern with PDF instructions

A set of three matching drawstring bags in various sizes are nestled together on a white background. The bags are sewn from a coordinating floral print and solid pink fabric, each with a ruffled top.

2. Sleep Masks

A handmade sleep mask is a another incredibly practical gift. The best thing is that I have 3 mask variations so you can match your needs.

A handmade floral sleep mask with a ruched, pink fabric-covered strap lies on a white textured background. Next to it are thread snips and spools of white and lilac thread.

3. Sanitary Pads Pouch

A small, handmade floral pouch with a pink flap and white button is displayed on a white textured fabric. Surrounding the pouch are sewing supplies, including small black scissors, spools of white and lilac thread, and several heart-shaped buttons.

Another thoughtful and practical gift is my sanitary pads pouch sewing pattern. It’s a fantastic scrap-buster, and the design is beginner-friendly, as it does not require velcro or snaps.

4. Scrunchies with Trim

I am of the opinion that you can never have too many scrunchies. This is a super quick sewing project that, like the others is a great scrap buster. you have lots of options for customisation here by mixing and matching different fabrics and trims.

Three floral scrunchies are displayed on a white textured background. One has a delicate pink lace trim, another has a bright green lace trim, and the third is plain. A bundle of the green lace and two spools of thread lie nearby.

5. The Heart-Shaped Fabric Coasters

The previous patterns have been suited for personal use but this sewing project makes for wonderful handmade home decor. These heart-shaped coasters are so adorable; I like to sew them in sets of four, slightly varying the style of each individual one.

Four handmade, heart-shaped coasters are displayed on a white background. They show different quilted designs: one is solid pink, one is floral, and two are a patchwork of both pink and floral fabric. Spools of thread and fabric swatches are arranged next to them.
