Free Full Circle Skirt Sewing Pattern
I’d like to share with you the genesis of this free circle skirt sewing pattern. One of my earlier blog posts was about how to draft a full circle skirt. I wanted to show how I drafted my own based on the knowledge I’ve gathered from a few sewing books. The thing is, I prefer drafting my sewing patterns using pattern drafting software, specifically Valentina (or Seamly2D) and Sewist CAD, both of which are free.
Since I had already drafted my own skirt, and itโs essentially a parametric pattern based on just the waist circumference, I realized that with a little extra work I could generate the pattern in multiple sizes. So while this sewing pattern hasnโt been tested by a group of sewists, itโs likely to fit well if you go by your waist measurement. It includes built-in ease, so you donโt need to adjust for that.
And if youโre interested in drafting your own skirt in other fullness variations, like half, quarter, or third circle skirts, make sure to check out this blog post, where I go in depth on the formulas and cutting layouts for each type.
This sewing pattern was created using Sewist CAD, a free 2D/3D online drafting tool.
