15 Free Panties Patterns You’ll Want to Sew Right Now
If you’ve ever wanted to sew your own underwear, this post is for you. After writing about how to draft your own panties pattern, I knew I wanted to continue the series by sharing a round-up of free panties patterns you can try if you want to explore different types of underwear styles.
This blog post is a collection of 15 free panties sewing patterns, including high-waisted briefs, thongs, bikini styles, and even a pair of period panties. I’ve sewn some of these for myself and loved ones. Whatever your sewing level or style preference, I hope you’ll find a pattern to sew.
1. SCRAP Sporty Thong by Lore Piar
The SCRAP Sporty Thong is a fun pattern designed to use up your fabric scraps and the best part is you don’t need any elastic. See what sewists have made by browsing the hashtag #scrapsportythong on Instagram.

To get the pattern, just head to the pattern page, add it to your cart and check out for free. The pattern comes in two size groups: Group 1 with hip measurements from 80–122 cm (31 1/2″–48″), and Group 2 from 132–182 cm (52″–71 3/4″).
2. Aurore Thong by Lizzie Patterns
The Aurore Thong is a gorgeous romantic take on the classic thong. It’s quite unique as it is the only free pattern on this blog post that uses woven fabric.
There’s no hashtag for this pattern on Instagram, so make yours and share it on Instagram, I know I will soon.

You can grab Aurore thong from the freebies page on Lizzie Patterns website. Just click the download buttons provided. The pattern includes 7 sizes, with hip measurements ranging from 86–114 cm (33 3/4″–44 7/8″).
3. Lacey Thong Panties by FehrTrade
This pattern is a twist on the classic thong and features lace side panels. Check out what other sewists made in Instagram here #fehrtradelaceythong

The download can be a little tricky to spot. Scroll down on the blog post until you see a centered image with the text “Download the PDF pattern!” over a photo of three thongs. Click that image to start the PDF download.
The pattern includes 4 sizes, finished widths ranging from 74.4–98.4 cm (29 1/4″–38 3/4″) at half hip level.
4. The Acacia underwear sewing pattern by Megan Nielsen
The Acacia underwear sewing pattern is a low-rise bikini style and is easily one of the most recommended free panty patterns out there.

Here’s how to actually get your hands on the free pattern (you may have encountered lots of dead links online).
The Acacia pattern is listed as a paid product on the Megan Nielsen website, but you can still get it for free by signing up for their newsletter. Go to the product page for the version you want:
Scroll down until you see the section that says “Sign up to our newsletter,” just before the product reviews. This link will take you to a sign-up form. Enter just your email and first name and sign up. You’ll receive a welcome email with a discount code that you can use at checkout to download the Acacia pattern for free.
5. Maxine High Waist Panties by Evie La Luve
I love Evie La Luve’s panties patterns (I have about 3 of them). She offers the high waisted Maxine panties as a free pattern. Check out what other sewists made on instagram here #maxinepanties

This pattern is simple to get your hands on. Just add the Maxine panties pattern to your cart and checkout for free. The pattern Maxine Panties pattern includes 7 sizes, with hip measurements ranging from 83–110 cm (33″–43 1/4″).
6. Celeste Panties by Ohhh Lulu
The Celeste Panties are another low rise bikini style pattern. This is a unique freebie because it has tutorial on how to apply lace to the waist and leg openings. Check out the #celestepanties on Instagram to see what people made.

You can get your hands on the Celeste Panties on the product page. Just click the download button. The size range is also limited to the widest hip measurement, 33-44 in (84-112 cm).
7. Free Panties Pattern by Blank Slate Patterns
The Blank Slate Panties pattern is a simple bikini-style underwear pattern created by Melly Sews. Check out what sewists made using this pattern #blankslatepanties.

This free panties pattern is available for free if you subscribe to the Melly Sews newsletter. Go to the blog post and scroll down until you see the “Subscribe to the newsletter” button.
Clicking this button will open a sign up form. Subscribe and check your inbox for a welcome email. This will give you a link to Melly Sews’s free pattern gallery and a password to access it. Open the gallery, enter the password and scroll through e pattern gallery. The blank slate panties is about nine rows down.
The pattern has a 9 sizes, the hip measurement ranging from 86-149 cm (34-55 in).
8. Ilana Panties by Mood Fabrics
The Ilana Panties are part of a free lingerie set by Mood Fabrics. I love these bottoms cause they have a more sporty, casual vibe. See what others have made on Instagram: #ilanalingerieset

To get the pattern, head to the Ilana Lingerie Set blog post. Scroll the page and you’ll find a sign up for. After signing up, you’ll get a link to the pattern in your inbox.
The size range is inclusive, covering hips from 34.5″ to 63″ (approximately 88 cm to 160 cm).
9. Hipster Panties by MakeBra
The name gives it away; The MakeBra Hipster Panties are a fun mid-rise hipster style for a more casual feel. Check out the hashtag #makebrahipster on Instagram to see what other sewists have made.

This one is super easy to access as no sign-up required. Just go to the MakeBra post and click on the link to the PDF. This pattern comes in only 3 sizes and covers 88 to 108 cm (approximately 34.5 to 42.5 inches).
10. Noelle Underwear Pattern by Madalynne
The Noelle Panty is another high waisted underwear pattern. Check out the hashtag #noellepanty on Instagram to see what other sewists have made.

You can get the Noelle pattern for free by adding it to your cart on the product page and checking out. The pattern includes 9 sizes, ranging from a hip measurement of 33 to 55 in (84 – 104 cm).
11. Flo Underwear by Seamwork
The Flo pattern is a bikini-style period underwear. Check out what others have made using the hashtag #seamworkflo on Instagram.

The Flo panties pattern is a available for free when you create a free account on Seamwork. Sign up on the page and the pattern will be made available to you.
There are two size groups:
Misses: hip measurements from 86–117 cm (34″–46″)
Curvy: hip measurements from 112–147 cm (44″–58″)
12. Cheeky Lace Panties by So Sew Easy
This is a pattern I’ve made before and I loved how easy it is to assemble. There is no need for elastic as it is shaped such that the lace edge forms the waist and leg openings.

The pattern and instructions are available on a pay-what-you-want basis through So Sew Easy’s Payhip and you can also find the tutorial and details on the So Sew Easy blog post.
13. Tonika Panty by Madalynne
This panties are part of a set that includes a bralette. The Tonika panties are similar to the Ilana pair, with a wide band elastic, but different at the back (cheeky thong). Check out what sewists made using this pattern #tonikabraletteandpanty.

14. Free ruffle panties pattern by Sewing With Solana
The Solana Panties are delicate pair of panties with a ruffle edge.

You can get the pattern for free by visiting the product page. Just add the pattern to your cart and check out for free.
This pattern is offered in one size only (Small/Medium). It might be possible to grade it up or down.
15. Cheeky Revolution Panties by Seen & Sewn Patterns
The Cheeky Revolution Panties are a great pattern if you don’t want to apply elastic. to the leg and waist openings.

You can get the pattern by going to the pattern’s blog post. Scroll through and you’ll find the direct download link embedded in the post.
The pattern includes 7 sizes, but there’s no standard size chart. The designer based the grading on Victoria’s Secret sizing, so it may be best to compare the pattern pieces to existing underwear or try a test version first.
