6 Free Large Bust Sewing Patterns with Different Cup Sizes
As a sewist with a large bust, I’m sure you know how frustrating it can be to find sewing patterns that fit you properly. Sometimes it feels like we have to do so much work in the way of full bust adjustments (FBAs) before we cut into our fabric and even then, you’ll probably need to start with a toile.
I have to say, I’ve sometimes been envious of people who fit into ‘standard’ pattern sizes. I made the decision a while ago to only buy patterns that have multiple cup sizes, and I have been much happier. My go-to pattern companies are Cashmerette and Itch to Stitch.
Patterns with different cup sizes, as I can imagine, take a lot of resources to make, and for this reason, there are very few free large bust sewing patterns out there. Today, however, I’ve gathered 6 free patterns that can help ease the burden of sewing for a larger bust and set you up for sewing success.

1. Deba Topper by Itch to Stitch
First up we have the Deba Topper from Itch to Stitch. This is an outer layer with dolman sleeves and bust darts that comes in both cropped and full length.

My favourite thing about this pattern is that it is incredibly ‘hackable’. If you don’t want the closure, remove the seam allowance and facing and cut it on the fold to make a nice breezy boxy tee. Yes, those ones that can be incredibly unflattering, but this pattern has nice bust darts for shaping. You could also make a quilted jacket out of it if you just line it. It’s an incredibly versatile pattern for large busts.
Here is the sizing information for the Deba Topper Pattern:
Sizes 00 to 20 are available in A, B, C, D, and DD cup sizes.
Sizes 22 to 40 are available in B, C, D, and DD cup sizes.
2. Ruby Dress by My Handmade Space
Next is the Ruby Dress from My Handmade Space. This is a very generous free pattern with a vintage style. It features a sleeveless bodice with waist darts in both the front and back and a circle skirt for the bottom.

While it’s a beautiful dress on its own, the Ruby dress bodice can be used as a sort of bodice block for your other sewing projects. If you have a pattern you love but doesn’t fit your bust, you can superimpose this bodice over it to help you achieve a better fit.
This pattern comes in five cup sizes, A, B, C, D, and DD, and runs from size 0 to 20. Grab the Ruby dress here, add it to your cart and checkout for free.
3. The Amelia Dress by NH Patterns
Another gorgeous dress that is large-bust friendly is the Amelia dress by NH Patterns. It comes in 2 views and has so many beautiful design features such as flutter sleeves, a gathered bust and an open back.

If you’ve wanted to sew a more revealing dress at the front but have been scared because you don’t want to do FBAs which don’t really guarantee the perfect fit, this dress is for you and will give you a bit of a head start when it comes to fitting.
It comes in two size groups: UK 4-18 (B, C, and D cups) & UK 16-26 (D, E, and F).
Get this pattern here. It is offered on a pay as you can basis which allows you to get it for free if you are in a bind.
4. The Dolman T-Shirt by Sweet Red Poppy
We have another Dolman sleeve pattern in the free T-shirt offered by Sweet Poppy Red. Sometimes we think that t-shirts are forgiving because they can stretch but as someone who has sewn a a patter drafted for my cup size, I can’t recommend it enough. This pattern comes in three cup sizes, B, D and DD, for sizes 0-40.

Use the table of contents on the blog post to help you navigate to the sign up page where you can enter your email and thereafter download the pattern. The instructions for sewing are offered on the pattern blog post.
Honourable Mentions
These two patterns get an honorable mention. While they don’t offer an full cup size range, they include a different cup size for the larger size range:
The Albion Blouse by Vanessa Hansen for Peppermint Magazine
The Albion blouse is another great pattern offered on a pay-what-you-can basis, where you can choose to download it for free if you are unable to pay.
This pattern is split into two size ranges: Sizes A to G are drafted for a B cup and H-P for a D cup.

The Milton Pinafore by Just Patterns for Peppermint Magazine
I am a huge fan of Delphine’s patterns. While they don’t come in a full cup size range, I usually get away with her DD cup patterns as I fall in the middle of her size range.
For the Milton Pinafore, sizes 34-46 are drafted for a B/C cup and the 46-60 is drafted for a DD cup. It is offered on a pay-what-you-can basis, where you can choose to download it for free if you are unable to pay.
