Sewing Your First Capsule Wardrobe: 5 Free Sewing Patterns to Get You Started
If you’ve been thinking about sewing your own capsule wardrobe, I’m here to give you a little headstart with these five free sewing patterns. These patterns have been curated such that they are beginner friendly and can work through transitional seasons to create interchangeable out fits.
Update: Some of the patterns I originally shared are now behind a paywall. I have replaced them with newer patterns, however, I’ve got to admit that these are not exactly what I imagined in the beginning.
1. Jacqui Asymmetrical Skirt by Tiana’s Closet

A midi skirt is a great foundation piece to sew. The Jacqui skirt adds some oomph to this basic silhouette with an asymmetrical detail and that’s why I love this pattern so much. Pattern and instructions are both available on the blog post, just scroll down.

2. The Etty Camisole by Tammy Handmade

The Etty Camisole sewing pattern is an elevated basic that can easily transition from casual to more formal settings. The scalloped neckline provides visual interest while the camisole’s relaxed silhouette offers ease and comfort. I love this pattern; it’s certainly a versatile layering piece. The Lekala classical blouse is a less well-known sewing pattern. This simple darted shirt blouse is a great addition to your capsule wardrobe collection for layering purposes.
Lekala patterns are unique in that they are parametric, meaning they use your measurements to generate a made-to-measure sewing pattern.
