20 Gorgeous Free Blouse Sewing Patterns to Try
When putting together this round-up of free blouse sewing patterns, I had to read up on the difference between shirts and blouses. After a bit of head scratching, I realised that the one consensus seems to be that blouses are flowier and prettier than shirts.
In this list of 20 blouse patterns, I’ve decided to highlight patterns that don’t have full button plackets nor prominent collars. These are grouped into peasant blouses, those with puffed or gathered sleeves, front tie tops and wrap tops. I hope you find your next sewing project here!
Free peasant blouse sewing patterns
It’s hard to come up with a definitive list of features that define a peasant blouse but I think we all know one when we see one. I’ve categorised the following PDF patterns as peasant blouses due to my initial impression: billowy appearance, open necklines, gathers, bohemian aesthetic etc.
Isla puffed sleeve top by Tiana’s Closet
The front slit of this blouse has ties gives it a relaxed bohemian vibe. It also has a front and back yoke to which the rest of the gathered bodice is sewn.

Veronica blouse by Mood Fabrics
Cute meets boho in this blouse. It has the classic raglan sleeve that we see in many peasant blouses but it also has cute and whimsical touches like a ruffled neckline and sleeves. The front slit in the Veronica blouse also doubles as a looped button placket.

Sweat pea blouse by Threads Made by Me
I’ve sewn a few of these and have got a lot of wear out of them. This is a short sleeved peasant blouse with and elasticated waistband and elasticated sleeves. It’s such a quick and satisfying sewing project.

Boho top sewing pattern by Sparrow Refashion
This off shoulder boho blouse, like the Veronica blouse, features ruffles. The bell sleeves have an interesting gather above the shoulder which makes it a unique top.

This is the simplest peasant blouse to sew of this round-up as it doesn’t include any complicated features: just raglan sleeves and an elasticated neckline and sleeves.

Tie-front tops were the trend that RULED 2024 and though trend cycles are incredibly short these days, I think this type of blouse is still so cute. Here are a couple of free sewing patterns to help you sew your own.
