The Ava Dress is a gorgeous, loose-fitting dress with a waist belt. It’s one of the more involved projects in this roundup due to the button placket and gathered neckline, but it’s still a beginner-friendly pattern. You can also choose to omit the buttons and sew a simple center front seam instead.

My favourite thing about the Asheville dress is that it has beautiful princess seams in the front for shaping, but shirring in the back. This makes it easier to fit than a traditional garment with princess seams.

The Baratti Blouson Dress is probably the most complex pattern in this roundup, but if you’re ready for a bit more of a challenge, it’s well worth it. It’s a bohemian-style dress with raglan sleeves and covered buttons. You may want to lengthen it depending on the season you plan to wear it in, but as shown in the sample photos on Mood Fabrics, it also pairs perfectly with boots.

I find the Fatima such a pretty dress for spring due to its ruffled neck and ties. Although it is a short dress, it can certainly be lengthened according to your preference. Since it’s a loose-fitting dress, you can even get away with sewing a mock placket if you can’t be bothered with sewing buttonholes.
